Thought you might like to see a free standing photo of Feenix taken 7th November, 2007.
Feenix had just returned from a day at my veterinarian, after trying to break her neck in the morning.

She is probably the most active Basenji I have ever bred / owned, as is evidenced by her muscle development.
The fact that she actually stood still for the photograph was a miracle in itself!!!

Feenix is the only girl in a litter of 4 boys.
She has the sweetest, most loving temperament, and likes nothing more than to be stroked, and cuddled.
The high point of her day is to go for a walk on a lead. That, to her, is Basenji Heaven!!
Her tail never stops wagging ( going round and round like a helicoptor rotor!!)
Who says a Basenji tail can't wag!!

This was the last litter that Thomas sired - back to his granddaughter.
His legacy will live on through his great/grandchildren.

Her brothers include :

Finnish Ch Tamsala Pheenix In Flight (Pentti)
with Marjukka Anttila

Aust Ch Tamsala Nthe Sun (Callum)

Feenix came in season very early for 2008 (January!).
She has been mated to:

Aust/Amer Ch Jasiri HR Pup NStuff (Imp USA)

Fanconi DNA Marker Linkage Test : Probable Clear

Feenix's first litter will be due 5th April, 2008 ( if all goes to plan)

STOP PRESS!!!

Feenix has her litter.

The 2 red/white babies were born Sunday 6th April 2008 - one girl, one boy - by caesarian section.
We knew that a caesarian would be a possibility as when we tried to mate Feenix,
we found that she had a stricture across the birth canal which made it difficult to do a natural mating.
So Feenix had an AI to Puff.

Although Feenix tried her best to have the pups naturally, she was unable to.
So the caesar operation was done, and 2 healthy, strong pups came into the world.
They have Thomas' head, and wrinkle - and will have Thomas/Feenix's lovely black pigmentation (eyeliner, and black lips)
that is disappearing so fast from the breed.

There will be some photos coming up, when Feenix feels up to facing the camera.
When all said and done, a girl must look her best when showing her family off to the world!!

There will only be Fanconi Carrier and Fanconi Clear puppies in this litter.
The Carriers CANNOT develop Fanconi.

Because Feenix had to have a caesarian, I will not breed with her again.
We think Feenix has a new "forever" home.
One of the prospective puppy buyers has said how much she and her daughter
would like to give Feenix the home she deserves.

LOOK!!

First photos of Feenix and Puff's 2 babies

Rafferty and Rinky

I love you brother!!

Rinky ready to attack!!

The babies are only 4 weeks old in these photos (taken 4th May)

The black faces mean that they will have Grandad Thomas' beautiful black eyeliner, and black lips - something which is disappearing in the breed.
So far this combination of Puff and Feenix is looking very promising.
Raff spends a lot of time on his back having "belly rubs" just like his Dad Puff.

12th May - 5 weeks old

Rinky being good.

Sun on the belly is WONDERFUL!!  Rinky flashing!!

All right - let's do this together!!

I think this is called "tracking"

Raff - What did you say??
