I have always health tested my Basenjis - and now have up to 6 generations of health testing behind my litters. These results are available in the form of 3 generation pedigrees, to any person wishing to purchase a TAMSALA Basenji. We also have photographic pedigrees, which give prospective breeders the opportunity to know in advance what Basenjis are behind their bloodline.
HIP DYSPLASIA Xrays are taken (under anaesthetic), after the age of 12 months, and are sent for scoring, to the Melbourne University at Werribee.
EYE TESTING This is done before the puppies go to their new homes - and at regular intervals throughout my breeding Basenjis lives.
URINE TESTING For Fanconi syndrome. This is done 3 monthly (with glucose testing strips) on each dog over the age of 12 months
THYROID TESTING
This blood testing panel is also done on all my Basenjis over the age of 12 months, to check that each one has a normal functioning thyroid.
